Dr. Ram Singh

Owner and Medical Director

Dr. Singh grew up in New York and graduated with an associates in agriculture science from SUNY Cobleskill and later a bachelors in animal science and biology from Cornell University. His interest in veterinary medicine grew from managing equine facilities and his position as a dairy herdsman. He attended The Ohio State University and focused his veterinary studies in equine and bovine medicine. Following veterinary school, Dr. Singh interned at Brock Veterinary Clinic in Lamesa, Texas, a mixed animal practice focused predominately on performance horse medicine. After completing the internship, he moved back to his home state of New York and started working in a busy mixed animal practice. It was here where he found his special interest in small animal medicine and surgery while specializing in equine lameness. Dr. Singh really enjoys soft tissue and orthopedic surgery.

Dr. Singh recently moved to California with his wife, Mary in September of 2019 to be close to his family who all live in the San Joaquin county. Once settled in California, Dr. Singh started working at a busy 24-hour small animal emergency hospital. At this clinic, he learned a lot about life-saving medicine, surgeries and care. He also met Dr. Tanner at Family Veterinary Care of Oakdale and was hired to work 1-2 days a week.

In 2020, Dr. Singh and Mary decided to settle in Oakdale. Shortly after, Dr. Singh started working full-time at Family Veterinary Care of Oakdale, where he loves being part of his hometown and surrounding communities.

In Dr. Singh’s free time, he enjoys riding his horse, working cattle, hiking, visiting National Parks, wildlife photography, and camping. He also enjoys all aspects of home remodeling.

Dr. Mel Tanner

Dr. Tanner graduated from the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 1992. He then returned to his hometown of Modesto, California and entered private practice in 1992. He opened Oakdale’s Olde Towne Veterinary Hospital at the site of Dr. Ed Taylor’s old practice. In 2015 Dr. Tanner moved the practice to 389 West F Street in Oakdale and also changed the name to Family Veterinary Care of Oakdale.

Dr. Tanner’s special interests include surgery and medicine of dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, pot bellied pigs, ferrets and other exotic animals. He is an active member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Northern San Joaquin Veterinary Medical Association, The Association of Avian Veterinarians and the American Association of Feline Practitioners.

Dr. Tanner has lived locally raising his children for the last twenty years. While he enjoys the study and application of Biology, his greatest pleasures in practice are the fulfilling relationships that he has developed with patients and clients.

Dr. Wendi Dudley

Dr. Wendi Dudley was born and raised here in California’s Central Valley. Her passion for helping animals started at a very young age and encouraged her to pursue a career in veterinary medicine.

Dr. Dudley graduated from UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 1987 with a strong interest in internal medicine. While studying, she was employed and enjoyed packing mules on the east side of the Sierras for Rock Creek Pack Station.

Post-graduation from 2005-2011, Dr. Dudley was part of Old Towne Veterinary Hospital. During 2010, while working with Dr. Tanner, Dr. Dudley was chosen for a fellowship in small animal abdominal ultrasound at UC Davis. Since this experience, Dr. Dudley has taken a keen interest in performing abdominal ultrasound.

After being involved with emergency medicine, Dr. Dudley joined the Family Veterinary Care team again in 2020, mainly focusing on abdominal ultrasounds. Since June 2021, she started seeing patients through appointments and surgeries.

At home, Dr. Dudley enjoys reading, spending time with her 2 horses, dog, cat, and husband, Victor. She is a huge San Francisco Giants and 49ers fan, and loves watching and attending games.

Dr. Maggie Peitzmeier

Dr. Maggie Peitzmeier grew up outside of Omaha, Nebraska. She has always loved working with animals and her dreams of being a surgeon were first documented in kindergarten with a drawing of performing surgery on a dog. Dr. Peitzmeier attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where she competed on the equestrian team and received her Bachelor’s in Animal Science. She then completed veterinary school through the University of Nebraska / Iowa State University program. After graduation, Dr. Peitzmeier completed an internship and surgery residency in Ocala, Florida and became board certified in large animal surgery. She has practiced in the California Central Valley since 2016 and is currently working in small animal emergency medicine and surgery. Outside of work, Dr. Peitzmeier enjoys riding her horse, hiking with her dogs Phoebe and Frank, working out, and cheering on Husker football.
